The funding and standing to sustain a mission.
You're doing important work on a tight budget. We help you reach the public funding, board talent, and partners that sustain it, and strengthen the operations that make funders trust you.
The funding landscape
Public funding for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations exists at the federal, state, and city level. Elected officials, agencies, and authorities all fund this work, through grants, capital allocations, and discretionary funding.
Winning it is relational before it's technical. The organizations that get funded are known to the officials and agencies who fund this work, credible in how they operate, and trusted to deliver. Relationships and a real track record earn you a serious look. A strong application, written to what the funder is actually looking for, is what carries it through.
We help on both: the relationships and standing that get you considered, and the funding applications and narratives that win once you are.
When to bring us in
When funding is the need
- You're pursuing public money and need to know which programs you're positioned for, and in what order.
- A specific grant or application is open and you want it written to the program's scoring criteria.
- A capital project needs a funding plan: which programs, what each requires, and the timeline.
- A budget gap or debt load is threatening the organization, and you need a path to restructure it through public financing.
- Public funding turns on relationships as much as paperwork, and you want to be known to the agencies, program officers, and funders who decide, not just a name in the pile.
When the organization needs to be ready
- Operations, systems, or reporting aren't yet at the level funders expect.
- The board needs building out, or governance needs to be put on firmer footing.
- You need a strategic plan and a real financial model behind the next phase of growth.
- A program or workforce initiative needs designing before it can be funded.
- The board, funder, partner, and community relationships the work depends on need building and tending, so you're not starting cold each time you need support.

Proof
Rescue and growth of a treatment nonprofit.
A major addiction-treatment nonprofit faced a financial crisis that put services for thousands of patients at risk. We worked with the state to restructure unsustainable private debt into public financing through a state authority program, then built a multi-year strategy that secured more than $30 million across federal, state, and city sources, alongside board reorganization, strategic planning, and a campus redevelopment that adds $20 to $30 million to the organization's asset base.
Result: the organization was stabilized and has roughly doubled in size.Capital funding for a historic estate and public garden.
A cultural foundation stewarding a historic estate needed capital for preservation, with no clear funding path. We mapped the state programs it qualified for and won competitive grants for its preservation work.
Result: more than $1 million secured so far, with an ongoing funding path established.Where to start
