For energy

Scale where the public sector is decisive.

Much of this work runs through government: the agencies that permit it, the authorities that fund it, the utilities it connects to, and the rules its customers have to meet. We help you navigate that path, engage the agencies and partners that matter, and find the public funding behind the work.

The same companies need to grow their commercial base. We run that side too: market expansion strategy, outreach, and business development to reach the utilities, building owners, industry, and customers a company sells to.

Two situations we work in

Most of our work here is one of two profiles. This page covers both, but the work differs.

Clean energy and climate ventures

Companies bringing a renewable, storage, advanced-materials, or sustainability offering to market. Growth here happens two ways: the public-sector path of permitting, public funding, and the utilities and agencies that decide whether a project scales, and the private-sector path of market expansion, outreach, and business development to commercial and industrial customers. We do both. The work is positioning, the regulatory and funding path where it applies, the government affairs that represents you to the utilities, agencies, and state executives who decide, and the outreach and relationships behind a first deployment and the ones after it.

Operators, owners, and energy infrastructure

Buildings, venues, facilities, and energy and infrastructure companies that have to meet environmental and emissions regulation, from city building-emissions law to state environmental permitting to federal review. The work is the compliance path, the government affairs that represents your leadership to the agencies, municipalities and state executives whose decisions shape the project, and the community and communications strategy behind it.

When to bring us in

When you're bringing energy or climate work to market

  • You have a clean-energy or sustainability offering and need to reach the utilities, agencies, and customers that decide whether it scales.
  • You want to grow your commercial base and need market-expansion strategy and outreach to the customers and partners you sell to.
  • You qualify for public funding or incentives and want to pursue them.
  • A project needs the right site, with the land, grid access, and local support to advance.
  • You're early and need to know which agencies, authorities, and partners matter, and how to reach them.

When regulation shapes the project

  • A permit, environmental review, or emissions rule applies to your work, and you need a strategy to meet it.
  • A new environmental or emissions law affects your buildings, facilities, or customers.
  • A capital project faces organized stakeholders and needs community engagement and a communications plan.
  • Policy is moving and you want to be at the table while it's decided.

What the work needs, and nothing it doesn't

Take the whole path or a single piece. Most clients need some of this, not all.

The environmental-review and permitting path across DEC, the Army Corps, and federal review.

The agencies, authorities, and utilities that matter, including NYSERDA, NYPA, DEC, and the PSC.

Public funding and incentives

Clean-energy grants, state programs, and the incentives a project may qualify for.

Emissions and environmental compliance

Local Law 97, refrigerant rules, and the deadlines you or your customers now face.

Site identification and siting

Finding and advancing sites with the land, grid access, and local support a project needs.

Coalitions and stakeholders

The environmental leaders, communities, and champions a project needs behind it.

Communications and momentum

The press and stakeholder strategy a contested project requires.

Expertise across the network

Proof

Bringing a renewable technology to New York.

A renewable-energy company with a baseload technology proven abroad wanted a flagship New York deployment. We mapped the permitting path across the state environmental agency, the power authority, the energy R&D authority, and the Army Corps, identified flagship sites with institutional landowners, and built the university partnerships and public-funding path that make a first deployment credible.

Result: a defined route from proven technology to a financed flagship site, with the agency and institutional relationships to advance it.

Building-emissions compliance for a major venue.

A major New York venue had to meet the city's building-emissions law, with penalties for falling short. We worked through its compliance path across energy and water use, building-envelope efficiency, on-site generation and storage, and the neighborhood and workforce commitments a large public-facing site carries.

Result: a compliance and sustainability plan aligned to the law's deadlines and the venue's role in its community.

On performance-based fees

For private-sector sales and business development, we can structure part of our compensation around results, so our incentives line up with yours. Any work that touches public funding or government decisions stays fixed-fee and is never tied to an outcome, which keeps it clean and compliant. We draw that line clearly before any engagement begins.
